I have been asked to try and sort an Update problem out.
On clicking the Windows Update via IE7's Tools tab I have a window telling me that there is 12 important updates totalling 34MB's.

When I click the Install tab, I'm getting a 80240016 Error code and it's telling me that Windows Update is currently installing other updates. Please try agaiin a few minutes.
I can wait hours and nothing happens. On restarting I'm warned that 1 of 1 update is being installed and not to prematurely turn off the machine.

On the actual restart, the exact problem is happening.

I have tried installing each update on it's own, but to no avail.

Research shows this is a common problem and there doesn't seem to be a definitive answer that works.

Has anyone else come up against this and have you solved it? It would seem that it has't been able to download and install updates since August.
