DVD playing software

Hi.......
Sorry if this is a real idiot question. I'm new to this.
Simply - can anyone please recommend software (preferably free!!)
which will allow me to play commercial DVDs on my PC?
I already have RealPlayer and Windows Media Player but neither seems
to allow playing of DVDs.
Using Win2K by the way.
