Re: Basic cheap speaker systems upgrades Benchmark test to sort the good from the chaff

Agreed.

I have all my kit running through a patch bay (24x24 balanced), which links everything to everything else. Everything else including; PC x2, video x2 (Hi8 & VHS), Kaos pad, Numark CD player, 1210, Denon tape-deck, Beringer mixer, Korg synth, Korg MIDI controller, Tascam MIDI mixer, MP3, minidisc, etc. But no trumpet, just the one I'm blowin'!

All of which is pumped through an Alesis amp out to the monitors. A set of PC speakers just wouldn't do all that shizzle justice I'm afraid.

Oh, and yes, the wiring is a freakin' nightmare!

At the end of the day there are speakers and there are speakers, depends on your end use and need for quality.
