I have a Mac Mini, one of the original ones, and have never installed any anti-virus or anti-spyware software in it.
There are anti-virus applications, but the definitions tend to be for Windows viruses, which rather defeats the purpose, although it could be argued that they safeguard PCs networked with a Mac.
