Microsoft have announced that Rail Simulator 2:Railworks will be on the Store shelves on Friday June the 12th 2009.(UK Release) www.railsimulator.com/en/node/6112 www.railsimulator.com/en/node/5990 (Some screen shots and tech Info) But before you have a look at this (It could be very Good this time ?) Do Not Impulse Buy (or Pre order) it. Price is £39.99 There is a valid reason why I say this and I refer you back to the Original game which again was "Good to Look at" but Playability-wise felt like a Beta test (Bugs/glitches galore) Maps were good but why the Dead ends? (Ended up with GTA style stunt crashes) A "Loop around" (Like in Model railways) would have been a better way of working? As for the User making a loop for themselves the Track Editor was totally unusable both from a Beginners and experts point of view Looking at other aspects of the game the Choice of Routes was OK But the Activities were difficult I'd often end up derailing(In the wrong place on the track) or end up on one of the dead end Branches (The "Help" Map on screen would be hard to read and Often it would crash the game!) Now if those issues have been addressed in some way (and I shall be monitoring this> Once bitten, Twice Shy) and Bugs rectified in a Patch.(or eliminated before Launch date?) Then the Best time to Purchase this game is approaching Xmas. Subject to Feedback on the Forums.I'd ignore the "This is the greatest" game/sim posts and look a bit deeper Some games Magazines reviewers do fall into this Mode too to generate interest and all they have played or seen is a demo or a Video clip? I have Played the Original Train Simulator game Which is still to be found for a Fiver or so in Game/Gamestation ect and I have several 3rd Party route addon Packs for theFirst Rail Simulator for something to do (these are about 20 Pounds each) Got about a weeks value out of them(get some New locos and rolling stock.) NOTE They too crashed the main program(on the registration Procedure) A bit hit and miss : ( |
