It depends on the warranty now. You need to keep a full detailed list of dates and problems and submit that to the company and make your request and see what they say.
Most consumer protection covers you for about 12 months.
When you say 'The Telegraph' - was it a newspaper sponsored offer? If so I'd write to the paper as well. If it was just an advert, then it makes no difference.
