Can't remember specifics but I've read elsewhere that this is a problem with version SIX Nero and XP, they are not very compatible. They fight over dominance (heck XP fights with everything for dominance, including the owner of the machine!). I also seem to recall there is some problem with an API conflict between the two.

I do have to ask why you went for v6 instead of being content with v5.xxxx of Nero? I always say new releases should be avoided until the bugs are shaken out, and v.5 is perfectly up to the task. This isn't a race to see who can grab the new car plates first yanno! LOL
