Yes you can use what you've got. You would need to install File and Printer Sharing by going to Control Panel, Network Connections, Local Area Connection, right click and choose Properties. If you can't see 'File and Printer Sharing' in the list click Install and add it. You will need to do that on both PCs. Then choose a folder, right click and choose Sharing and Security. Read all the stuff about passwords and security and then share that folder. Make sure your firewall (both hardware and software) has been set to allow traffic between the two PCs and then you should be able to browse the network on one PC and see the shared folder and files on the other.
