Hi, I recently purchased a Belkin USB Adapter to connect to a wireless router. Everything installed fine, the icon is blue (blue is connected, not red for not connected), Wireless Monitor window indicates connected, and Adapter light flashes indicating it is connected. But, when I run MS Internet Explorer or my Earthlink email, it never finds the internet - stalls out when "detecting proxy settings" on Explorer then says cannot find web page; and cannot find internet connection for email and wants to work "off line". It's like the computer doesn't know how to connect through the USB (ver. 1.1). Computer is an older P3 600MHz 133FSB HP Pavillion running Windows 98 (not 98SE, ME, etc, -just 98). Is this an issue with the Windows 98 OS not being able to connect to the internet through a USB, while Windows 98SE can? Or is there another issue? Thanks |
