Hello GettinSlower ![]() Anything that is installed without your consent is suspect. Viewpoint components are installed as a side effect of installing other software, most notably AOL and AOL Instant Messenger (AIM). Viewpoint Manager is responsible for managing and updating Viewpoint Media Player’s components. I would like to suggest uninstalling Viewpoint Manager using Add/Remove Programs Click on: Start > Run and type in services.msc Click "OK" In the Services window look for Viewpoint Manager Service Select/highlight and right click the entry, and choose: Properties On the General tab, under Service Status click the Stop button Beside: Startup Type, in the drop menu, select: Disabled Click "Apply" then "OK" ------------------------ Open HijackThis again, select "Do a System Scan only" and place a checkmark in the boxes before the following entries: R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://www.dell.co.uk/myway R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Connection Wizard,ShellNext = http://www.dell.co.uk/myway O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file) O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Update Service] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Teknum Systems\update.exe" /startup O8 - Extra context menu item: &Search - ?p=ZS O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {CD67F990-D8E9-11d2-98FE-00C0F0318AFE} - (no file) O23 - Service: Viewpoint Manager Service - Viewpoint Corporation - C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Common\ViewpointService.exe Close all other open windows and click on Fix checked, then exit HijackThis. Here are two tutorials that will help this system, First please follow these Sun Java instructions: http://www.webuser.co.uk/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/283462/an/0/page/0#283462 And for System Performance see this link http://www.webuser.co.uk/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/329458/an/0/page/0#329458 Please let me know how your system is running once you have done this.
