Adding sounds & videos to my website

Hi,
I have pretty good knowledge of HTML and looking to add sound & video clips to my website.
Can anyone help with the HTML coding and just how I go about adding video clips so they can be played within a page on my site - with play/stop controls if possible.
Any help much appreciated.
