Security certificates

I have IE7 and Windows xp home Starting today I have been getting Certificate errors when I have tried to log into any password protected site (except this one) saying "there is a problem with this sites security certificate" this has happened on three seperate online banking sites on E-BAY and several others ,unless all the certificates have expired at the same time I suspect that this is a IE7 issue anyone any ideas ? PLEASE
