I'm not sure you're right.

HyperText Transfer Protocol (or HTTP for short) is the language used for all web pages, so its unlikely to be that or you'd have problems viewing any pages.

As for removing firefox, I think that was panicking really - yes there was a security flaw, but they issued details how to avoid it, and a new version is available now to fix it. Internet explorer gets security issues highlighted very regularly, but you cant uninstall that so you're stuck with an unsecure browser then. If a browsers security issues worry you, its probably better to not use it till the fix is available than to uninstall it
