Bit of a head scratcher on the connectivity Issue ,Have you tried replacing the Modem driver?
Had a look through the One click fix wizard list re Connectivity section and
the nearest thing to what you require is the Repair ACS (last item on section)

Thats got me out of a bad connection issue many times .I think it has to do a reset of the Computer to Finish?
And go to the AOL BB connections and tick the "Automatically reconnect Me box" (in case of interrruption)
