Was using AOL Broadband as normal on DSL modem. On signing off, AOL started to download a software update (which I later found out to be to do with the migration to the Carphone Warehouse servers). This update crashed and since then I cannot connect. The error message I get is "Authentication Failure" Error 47-DUN-0691 Username/Password Invalid on the domain I note now that AOL looks for TCP/IP rather than DSL modem. Phoned tech guys. Tried connecting using different usernames and passwords. Last guy seems to think that on migration the system picked up my previous phone number details. He set up account again with correct details but still no joy. He now thinks its a BT line fault and need to get engineer out. How can a piece of software throw out the line? Or is he talking rubbish? Anyone else experienced this? If I change ISP at this point, would a MAC code work or do I still have to wait for the apparent line fault to be rectified? |
