You have my sympathy.
Here is a scenario for you to get your brain around:-
1. Imagine that you have a router that isn't locked to a specific ISP.
2. Imagine that you have a wireless laptop or wi-fi adapter for a desktop PC.
Having one or both of the above ask yourself "Is it possible to use the internet where I live?".
