how do I download these games

We can't use online game sites such as miniclip at work, so every now and then a game will be sent round which has come off the web, but has the excel file extension, and when you open the game, it always shows excel as the background..how do they do that ? Assuming its legal, theres a couple of silly games on those free sites that I'd love to be able to play at work on those long sometimes quiet night or weekend shifts.
Can anyone help??
