Ultra Win Cleaner 2000 will get rid of it for you. I've done that, but when I try to install WMP version 7.1 it goes right through the installation process and then says it's failed and I need to reboot. I've even tried going back to version 6 and then upgrading to 7, but it still won't work, so it looks as if I'm stuck with version 9 until I do a complete Windows reinstall later in the year. That's going to be fun, going back 2½ years (OEM disk) and then setting everything up again, repartitioning and reinstalling all that software, but I've got all the M$ updates saved to CD, and at least it will give me a nice clean setup to start clogging up again. This time though I'm planning to make a backup on a nice new (second) HD, so when disaster strikes I'll be able to get back to my nice clean installation. There is intelligent life on Earth, but I'm only visiting. |
