A dial up connection requires a modem, either built into a laptop or as a piece of equipment connected to the PC. Something like this. Here's an example of a dial up provider. You pay for the number of hours on line at local rates so 3 or 4 hours will be around £4 to £5 a week. A contract Broadband service would be a lot cheaper and provide a far quicker service.
