Authentication

Our computer in Turkey uses a dial-up connection with the Turkish Telecom people and direct access to the internet via Internet Explorer is no problem. However trying to send e-mails through Outlook Express via this provider makes the screen show a box asking for 'Authentication' We have spoken to the ISP and they know of no reason why this should occur.
The only way we can send e-mails is by connection to the internet and then the ISP's website which is a long way round.
It is my belief that the problem may lie in the settings of Outlook Express itself and may not be the ISP's problem.
The programme is properly installed (possibly with a setting error) and works fine connecting to the internet.
We are using Outlook Express 6.0 on a computer running Windows XP Pro with plenty of RAM and an adequate processor.
If anyone can tell me how to correct this problem I would be grateful. I am due to go out there again next week and would really like to cure it.
