I use Windows XP and Internet Explorer with dial-up access to the Internet - normally without difficulty. However, suddenly I find that I cannot get through to the Internet.

Assuming that something had gone wrong with Internet Explorer, I have installed Firefox but with the same negative results. I am assuming that my computer is communicating OK with my ISP as, if I lift the phone, I can hear the usual electronic sounds.

I would appreciate any helpful suggestions on how I can once again access the Internet.
