I can't find System Restore.I know that you go start > all programs > accessories > system tools but system restore is not there. The only way i can do a restore is start>run>%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe and i can restore if i need to but does any one have any idea why i can't restore the normal way? Many thanks Alan

There are other ways to get to system restore , however if you wish to do it the way your used to , then it's just a case of adding a new shortcut.
First you need to locate the system restore executable. Click on start > my computer > C drive > windows folder > system 32 folder > restore folder . You will see the system restore executable in here ( rstrui exe ). Minimize this window to the task bar.
Now : Click on start then "my computer" and open the C drive. Open the documents and settings folder > all users > start menu > programs > accessories > system tools . Now go back to the first open window and copy and ( paste a shortcut ) of the rstrui exe file to this one.
Close all windows and go to start > all programs > accessories > system tools where you should now see the system restore option.
Just to add......if you want to tidy things up , if you use the right click option on the new shortcut , you can rename it to system restore...............and a very happy birthday to you. Have a great day.
