system restore

I can't do a system restore, the message is unable to restore go to earlier date. Everything in setting's is ok, i have even turned off my norton security to try and restore with no joy. Can anyone help

is the system restore setting in services enabled and is the dates for system restores in bold
how often is ur pc setup to do a restore?
