Hello valart,
Yes, there is a built-in feature called MSConfig, To get to it, Goto: Start -> Run -> and type: "msconfig" without "" -> press Enter/click Ok. Find The Startup tab and there you go.

Hi, guide here about msconfig. http://www.netsquirrel.com/msconfig/
What programs are necessary. http://www.answersthatwork.com/Tasklist_pages/tasklist.htm
I suggest doing a thorough scan for virus/malware etc.
