XP Service Pack 2 PC keeps crashing suddenly. Stripey screen

Hi..what do I check first? I've done 2 CHKDSKS..Both times files were repaired but the system keeps crashing. I have 1 gig RAM and an AMD64 FX-53 CPU. Thank You. CZ.

If you're getting green stripes I'd check the graphics card.

Do you know what it is?

Hi. I have a GeoForce 6800 Ultra & yes Green diagonal stripes appear when it crashes. Also it never crashes when idle only when I'm active and I think specifically when I click to bring something else on screen. How do I "check" the card? Many thanks. CZ

Either try it in another machine or get a new one.

Do you have on-board graphics? if so, use that.
