can't get Microsoft Office 2007 to open some old Powerpoint files
      #370034 - Sun Oct 28 2007 10:49 PM

Not sure if this is a Vista problem or not, but I have some old powerpoint files that I can open with Microsoft Office xp, but not with my new Vista / Office 2007 laptop. Surely Vista and MO 2007 should be backwards compatible??????

I thought that was the case as well but if this is anything to go by Microsoft thinks there might be a problem.

aren't these solutions to open MO 2007 documents with earlier versions?

My issue is that I have MO 2007 and want to open a MO PPT 1997-2003 Presentation. Some it will open, but I have a CD full of educational stuff that it won't open, even though I can open them on my Windows 2000 machine?

My link was some software that will change your existing files so that they can be read directly by Office 2007. Won't that give you the result you want - use Office 2007 to open and edit files from an earlier Office version?

Yes, you're right, that's what I want. It looked like it was to get older versions of Office to read Office 2007 files, then I couldn't get it to download anyway. Will try again.

Bazza

Strangely, I had an email about the new formats of Office 2007 the other day and chose to ignore it.

They are now four characters long. There’s a little write-up here http://technet2.microsoft.com/Office/en-...3.mspx?mfr=true
