I have been given a 'Dazzle' device to insert between my VCR and the PC. The 'Dazzle' Instant DVD Recorder software is installed and I can record from VCR through the 'Dazzle' to a DVD. The problem I have is that the picture is fine and the audio is fine. They are just not working together. The relevant audio track is about five seconds behind the appropriate video picture. Graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 Connection is via USB. Under Multimedia is shown: Creative SB Live Series (WDM) Creative SBLive gameport Dazzle DVC 100 Audio Device Dazzle DVC 100 Video Device. RAM 512 Am I doing something wrong or is it a hardware problem. Any advice on how to get both picture and sound to synchronize would be appreciated

Your video card requires an upgrade IMO and I'd consider increasing the RAM, although this may not be the initial problem, it will help, ensure that no other tasks are running in the background whilst you do this.

For 'Mouse' Thank you for the quick reply. Pardon my ignorance but can you please explain what is an IMO.? This is not a series of letters which I have come across before. Thank you very much.

In My Opinion
--------------------
Do you know that we're all in line for succession to the throne? Really?
Well, if forty-eight million, two hundred thousand, seven hundred and one people died I'd be Queen.

For Greysts, Thanks. I asked for that one, didn't I. Must have been too early in the morning. Thanks for the clarification. Concerning a video card upgrade, do you consider that a GEForce 7300 would be adequate for what I am doing or do I need to go to a 7600 GS? Appreciate your advice please

I'm no video card expert (Mouse is your man for that) but I do know that the more powerful the card the better for what you want to do. It is also a general rule that the more you pay the better the card so I suppose the decision comes down to how much you think it's worth paying to do what you want. You also need to make sure you've got an appropriate slot on your mother board. Most top quality cards these days are PCI-e and whilst the slot looks exactly the same (see picture) they are not compatible with the earlier PCI standard.

For greysts Thanks for the advice. Now I have learnt something as I did not know about PCI-e slots. Will watch out for that and maybe Mouse will comment on the two cards I mentioned. Thanks again.

Either of those cards will do the trick, however as greysts has mentioned, I don't think your motherboard will handle these cards, so a new board maybe in order.

New motherboard, new graphics card, probably a new VDU so you get better reproduction, etc. etc. Strikes me that the bloke who gave you the Dazzle hasn't done you many favours!

For 'Mouse' & 'greysts' Thanks very much for your advice and comments. The reason I asked about the specific graphics cards was that I was considering to do a full upgrade of motherboard and graphics card etc, so your advice much appreciated. Will call it a day on this enquiry Thanks again
