Joining 2 or more video files (WMV, MPG, MPEG, AVI etc)

Can anyone pls advice me of any program that will join or stitch 2 or more WMV OR AVI OR MPG files ? i tried windows movie maker but the output plays very slow on the pc. Basically, i need to stitch/join the clips and make a dvd. cheers all.
