hi there can anyone help with a problem i have with my ps2 , basically its stopped playing any games on the older compact disc format, the usual dvd rom's work fine . i was wondering if i have to change the settings or something. thanks in advance for any pointers on this.
It will be the drive itself, a DVD drive has two lasers, one for reading CD's and the other for DVD discs, the laser that reads CD's is more than likely dead and that's why it's able to only read DVD's.
It will need replacing, I will assume that it's out of warranty, maybe cheaper to replace the whole unit.
