I have a video clip that was captured from my WinTV free view dongle that I belive is in MPEG format?? When you click properties it details the file type as 'movie clip' and the file icon image shows a picture of film strip with MPEG written underneath it.
The clip is about half hour long but I want to make a copy of about 30 secs of footage. Can anybody help how I would do this?
I have 'MAGIX Movie Edit Pro 11 Silver' but when I try and import the movie clip it does not accept it as a valid format for import. The clip will not open in Windows Movie Make however it does play in Windows Media Player!

You should be able to use Movie Maker to open and edit your clip. Bear in mind that 30 minutes of live TV in MPEG format is going to be a BIG file. Have you given MM enough time to convert and install the file?
If it still won't work try EasyMPEGLite from here. It is really easy to use. Just drag your saved TV programme into the left hand pane, scan through it to find the start point of your clip and click Mark In. Then find the end point and click Mark Out. Finally click Result Now and your 30 second clip appears in the right hand window. You can review it to make sure it's what you want then click Create Result and you can save your clip with a new file name.
The programme doesn't have any editing features like enhance colour or create effects but it does do exactly what you want.
