Viewing Images With Windows Picture Viewer and Thumbnails.
Did you know that you can turn this feature on and off? I didn't until I found this on the internet.
You can turn off the thumbnail preview feature which speeds up your computer.
From the 'Start', 'Run' command line enter 'regsvr32 /u shimgvw.dll' without the quotes to disable thumbnails and the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer.
To re-enable and reverse the procedure just use 'regsvr32 shimgvw.dll'.
