I have AVG8 Free as my Anti-Virus Software. This morning I checked for updates and was told to restart my computer, which I did.
My problem is there is a red exclamation mark on the icon now and it doesn't go away with a reboot. I have rebooted about 5 times now and it is still there.
The Overview shows that the AntiVirus and Anti Spyware databases are outdated but they don't seem to change even though it says the update was successful.
I have tried to update and reboot several times.
I really like AVG Free and want to solve this a.s.a.p.
My OS is Windows Vista
I hope somebody can help me with this.

Hi janepaul , seems there is a known problem when the programme updates and the file definition updates are received out of sequence.

First of all check that your pc' clock is showing the correct time and date. If it's not reset it and retry your updates.

If the clock is the right time then download the latest... AVG installation file...and reinstall AVG.
This should solve the problem.

I don't know what I would do if I hadn't found out about this site. It has helped me on many occasions.

The problem you were having has been experienced by many others . As it's a known problem i would expect AVG will supply a fix as soon as they can.
