Inbound relates to something from outside your computer seeking to get in and outbound relates to something from inside or within your computer seeking to access the Internet.

Hope that answers your question.

Joe.

Defence+ in Comodo Firewall Pro usually asks permission for every programme that opens during its learning period.

Do you have a particular problem?

Joe.

Can you tell us how you are checking comodo? If you're getting the information from "NetworkDefence" The outbound are most probably your own programmes you started e.g. Internet Explorer. I have no idea what the inbound is. No need to be alarmed though but I think you are right to be concerned if you have a wireless connection because you need to be properly protected.

You will always find your own ISP will be trying to contact your PC via your router to find out if the IP address that they've allocated dynamically is still needed by your own PC.

Both your hardware firewall (in the router) and Comodo will create log files of everything that goes through their respective firewalls. Open the log files to see what IP address is being used to send inbound traffic at the start of your surfing sessions.

Yes Joe i'm checking the outbounds and inbounds with the NetworkDefence and as i said the in bounds disappear after a short while. In the 'Firewall has blocked _ its always 0 so i'm happy with that. When u say u need to be properly protected what do u mean?I have AVG for anti virus,Comodo for firewall, SuperAntiSpyware SpywareBlaster and ASquared for spyware and AVG Antirootkit. Is that adequate?May i thank Greysts for his detailed answer on this matte as well.

With the introduction of AVG 8 Free and to avoid conflicts you will shortly need to make some changes in the above.

First download AVG 8 Free to your Desktop but do not install it yet. As this programme includes everything except a firewall the following should be uninstalled first:

AVG Antivirus
Spybot S&D
Super AntiSpyware
SpywareBlaster
SpywareGuard
Threatfire

By the way the Comodo firewall's defence+ does the same or a similar job as Threatfire. However my own view is that Defence + should be turned off as well when running alongside AVG 8 Free.

There is an article here about securing your Wifi but I'm sure you've already taken all necessary precautions in that regard.

Joe.
