Hi everyone There's a group of us who are desperate for broadband at school. But since the school wouldn't let us to use the phone line or any cable and Now company hasn't covered Bath yet, is there anyway we can connect to the interent by any chance? But we certainly cannot have anyone set up anything around the school, so I know this might be impossible but I still hoping there might be a solution for us.
(p.s anything less than £40 a month will be great)
Thanks Gary

There are really only four methods available to connect to the net, telephone, cable, WiFi or satellite. You've been barred from the first two and unless you've got a lot more money, the fourth one is out as well. Although you can get a one-way connection via satellite (download) most of the cheap ones require a t/p line for uploading. Here is an example of a two-way connection but as you can see, it ain't cheap.
According to this Bath was about to become the WiFi centre of the world. Is that an option for you?

Did you click on the link in my original post (it's the blue word 'this' near the end)?
WiFi is basically a method of transmitting and receiving the Web over a wireless link. There are lot's of places with WiFi 'Hotspots' that you can use to log onto the net using a wireless enabled PC. Have a look at this page for a list of BT OpenZone hotspts in your area.
Some cities in the UK are starting to offer city wide WiFi but I don't know if anyone in Bath is considering such a service.
Going back to your original question, it is possible to use a G3 enabled mobile phone to connect to the internet via your PC. Whilst not as fast as Broadband it may suit your requirements.

Do you know that we're all in line for succession to the throne? Really?
Well, if forty-eight million, two hundred thousand, seven hundred and one people died I'd be Queen.
