Hi folks, this is only my second post as a registered user, I've finally taken the plunge and registered. Anyway, I'm writing to see if anyone can take a look at my website, its at http://www.apnretail.co.uk and its my ongoing project to try and achieve two things. Firstly, create a misspelt items eBay search engine (more to see if I could do it than any other reason!) and secondly to give away those eBooks that you see for sale on eBay that promise to make you rich, but only if you shell out for them I've also put a discussion forum on there for people to exchange their ideas. Anyway, any feedback would be really helpful, particularly regarding new ideas for the site etc. Cheers Phil

I like the misspelling search. I've just used it to look for a PCMCIA card and it came up with PCMCI for which no bids have been made and if I'm lucky will get me 3 cards for £1.99! I've been searching for a deal and the normal search didn't find that one at all.
Well done!

Thanks to suggestions from users I've now added in the ability to see a vendors feedback rating in the search results, allowing you to judge their level of trustworthiness. Cheers for all the feedback so far! Phil

As a follow up/ progress report, I just want to say a big thank you for the mention in issue 129 of the magazine (page 61), seeing the site in the magazine certainly gave me the incentive to continue developing it. I've had a few ideas/pieces of feedback regarding further improvements so watch this space. Thanks again! Phil

Hi folks, its me again. I've redesigned my search website in an attempt to 'de-clutter' the overall appearance. This is my first proper attempt at a redesign and I'd really appreciate some feedback, especially from those users that saw the site in its previous incarnation. There are also a couple of new features including the 'your previous search' panel which i've tested out but could probably do with a sound thrashing from other users! Anyway, please hit me with any feedback. Cheers Phil

In response to requests from users, I've created an APN toolbar that works both with Internet explorer and Firefox, hopefully this will be of use to a number of you eBayers. You can find the toolbar page at http://www.apnretail.co.uk/toolbar.asp , this URL isn't yet directly linked from the main APN website as I'm going for a 'soft' launch. Hope you find it useful and as always, keep the feedback coming! Phil

Your site is not the only one allowing users to find misspelled items on eBay.
Missing-Auctions.com is one that I use which offers the ability to save searches as RSS feeds as well as all the usual stuff. This allows me to subscribe to a search and automatically find new misspelled items as soon as they are listed.

Hi CheekyChap, That is similar to the feed generator found at http://www.apnretail.co.uk/ebaytools.asp but I've found that users prefer to use the search tool directly, I think only a very small proportion of eBay users will be 'savvy' enough to use an RSS feed. Nice site though, very tidy and easy to navigate, I like the tag cloud idea. Phil

Hi folks, I just thought I'd keep you all posted with progress on my eBay misspelled items search site. I've uploaded a new section tonight which you can find at http://www.apnretail.co.uk/login.asp, the aim of this new section is to allow users to automate searches for misspelled items, the results of which are delivered to their email inbox. I've not put a link to this new section yet from the main site as I want to let it undergo some usage testing. Hence this post really! Anyway, if anyone wants to give it a go, log in and let me know what you think. Quite a few other sites of a similar ilk have appeared over the past 12 months so it keeps providing me with the incentive to keep my site at the front of the pack! Cheers Phil
