Fund raising page
      #229551 - Wed Oct 12 2005 03:34 PM

I have created a new fund raising page to raise more funds for the Multiple Sclerosis Resource Centre and wondered if you could run your eyeballs over it?

http://www.adwall.msrcsites.co.uk/

cheers

Hi - a couple of things would improve the page, in my opinion:

1. Removing the background image, as it makes the text harder to read.

2. Putting the whole load of content into a table, or a <div> and then giving whatever you put it into, a width. Having so much content, spread over the full width of the page makes it difficult to read, or get a feel for what's going on.

Good luck with the site - I like the idea of selling the wall space.

Hi Jim

Thank you very much for the advice, I have taken this on board and have changed the layout as suggested,

Could I ask you to have a peek and see what you think?

cheers

Hi there,

that is a really huge improvement. It makes the whole thing look a lot more balanced and is far easier on the eye.

The only thing that would improve it would be to change the colour of these 3 links:

The main MSRC site
squiffy@msrc.co.uk
Search Engine Optimization and Free Submission

The colour of those links makes them very hard to read against a grey background. If they were darker they'd be a lot easier to read.

It might be easier to use the default browser link colours (e.g. blue for a link, purple for a visited link) - you could do that by changing this tag:

<BODY BACKGROUND="paper.jpg" TEXT="#003333" LINK="#0000FF</font>" VLINK="#0000FF"
ALINK="#0000FF" >

to this:

<BODY BACKGROUND="paper.jpg" TEXT="#003333">

or even better, use Cascading Style Sheets to do change link / background / text colour for you. This is a useful starting point:

All the best

Jim

Hi Jim,

Thank you very much for the suggestions, I have also incorporated some of them on my joke site, to tidy things up a bit.

Hi - that looks great. Very clean and well laid out and easy to read.

Is this your other site: http://www.msrc.co.uk/

Looks good too!

All the best with the site and the fundraising.

Thanks again Jim the SHOF one is my contribution to helping raise money for the MSRC and helping to give MSers some much needed laughter therapy

Yes the MSRC one is my "work" one - 2000 odd pages keeps me busy

cheers
