AOL and bad weather?
      #377651 - Sat Dec 29 2007 03:37 PM

A friend complains that she has problems with her AOL whenever it rains heavily. It seems to affect most functions -surfing, e-mailing, posting to blogs and websites, she says.

There can't possibly be a connection between weather and the internet....Can there?....

I'm fishing in thin air with this theory

I wonder if the Main socket is exposed to the Rain/Damp? Or a very Cold Temperature?

Is her landline Noisy or Drops out/Fades/Faint? when the Weather is not good?

Fix, ring the BT fault line( think it's 150?) Or post on the BT site No need to write anything just tick the symptoms and enter your Phone Number.
Will take a day or so to process, and you can track if the Job has been carried out
This Service is Free Ring the 150 line again if nothing improves, can speak to an engineer

Thanks Sandhound. I'll be happy to pass your comment on. But could you briefly tell us what 'RF linking' is?

G'day radiogandy.

RF linking is when the data that you have sent/received has left the twisted pair or fiber optic and uses the air waves (sometimes Satellite) at a very high frequency and wide bandwidth, which can handle a lot more traffic per second.

Its' draw back is, the more water vapour present between the two dishes (line of sight) the more the signal gets antenuated and slows things down.

Thanks again Sandhound. I think I understand. And I feel sure that it could be at least part of the explanation. I'll pass it all on and come back to you after the hols.

BTW I opened your site. Very attractive and original. cheers G
