Wallpaper resolution Problem
      #120550 - Fri Oct 22 2004 03:22 AM

Does anybody know of a Registry tweak which will give 4 large tiles rather than umpteen small ones?
Why I ask is, if I save an image as wallpaper it is very blurry( blown up many times) have to stand away from the monitor to get an idea what it looks like!
Only time its in sharp focus is when its Tiled or unstretched.
I'm using XP pro
In case you are wondering? The AP in my name is Answerpool.com (see my profile)

Not too sure but aren't you best going for images that are 800x600 res etc? anything smaller will make your image blurred, try using Irfanview to resize your image, it might help and you could end up with a better res on it?

Why not do it this way?

Open your chosen image in Paint, select all and Copy to put it on the clipboard.

Now click on Image, Attributes and change the size to 4 times the original. This won't resize the image. All it does is add blank space at the right and bottom.

Now copy and drag the new occurrence of the image to the far right, so it butts against the original.

Repeat the process to put two more copies in the blank space at the bottom.

Now set the required background colour, then go to Image, Attributes and add half the difference between the present size and 800x 600 (or whatever you prefer).

Next go to Image, Flip/Rotate and choose 180 degrees, then Image, Attributes and make it 800x600. When that's done, go back to Image, Flip/Rotate and 180 degrees again to get it the right way round.

No. It's not really that difficult. Now you can save the image as a bitmap and set it as wallpaper.

I think you can still get Irfanview, see tw0badmice's link.
