Looking for website link that has free sofrware for USB stick

Subject probably won't make sense so I'll be a little more descriptive here...

Quite some time ago in Web User magazine (I think), there was a link to a website that allowed you to download free handy common software to keep on a USB memory stick. ie, Browsers (Firefox), AVG anti-virus, Windows Live Messenger and a whole lot more.... and I can't find it anywhere!

Can anyone point me in the right direction please? Many thanks!

Sometimes it is difficult to know specifically what words to enter in Google for right results and I wasn't getting anywhere fast! LOL

I agree and the sites I gave you I already knew about but if you search Google with portable + programs + usb you should find other good sites ie. 100 Portable Apps for your USB Stick
