.abm files
      #372562 - Sun Nov 18 2007 10:15 AM

Hi, I am not sure where this posting should go, so I hope it is OK here. Some friends have sent me some photos which are unreadable by any software that I have. They end in .abm and I wondered if anyone knows of any software that will read them. Microsoft very "helpfully" directed me to a site for virtual machines.........

Many thanks in advance

Try changing the extention of one of the files to TXT then open. With luck at the top of the file you will find what program was used to create.

It will more than likely mean that you will need the software in which the photos were created in.

Thanks for your help, Mouse. I did what you said and it turns out that the file is a .jpg file. I still can't read it however because now I get a message saying that the file is corrupt. I gather that the file contains pictures of Peking - or Beijing as the BBC says it must be called - and the surrounding area so perhaps the Chinese authorities have corrupted it for political reasons. They might think that the sender is a spy.

I'd get your friend to just put the photos on a CD and not to use the software they used last time.

Either that, or get them to host the photos on Photobucket, so that you can go get them yourself.
