I'm hoping someone can help me. Unable to access the internet using the wireless feature on my router, so continue to have to use the ethernet cable. Each time I try to connect to the router after taking out the ethernet cable, it is not allowing me to do so (the password/security key are correct).
I think it is because my wireless IPv4 address is showing up as 169 (instead of 192..) as it preassigns it due to being unable to connect, but have no idea how to change it. Details from my ipconfig/all are (whilst my ehternet cable is attached):

Welcome to the forum. This sometimes works:
Go to the router settings and type the WEP/WPA key in hexadecimal rather than as characters.
If it still doesn’t work, set up the connection again on the laptop but input the key in hex.

thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, hex as a security/password is not being accepted. I've finally found how to change the IPv4 settings to 192..etc. but still no luck with obtaining internet access.
Its not down to the encryption as when I disable it, it still doesn't allow me to connect (I find I can only connect when using the ethernet cable plugged straight into the PC). I am using Vista, not XP.
I have followed all the instructions from Tiscali, but still no luck in making a connection.
Thanks

G'day wyattcj.
Put your IPv4 back to 169.254.124.187(Preferred)
You do have wireless enabled.
