Wireless network interface disabled - Atheros Client Utility
      #372381 - Fri Nov 16 2007 07:14 PM

The "Wireless network interface" on my laptop is disabled and I can't find out how to enable it again. I didn't do anything to it, it just went like it. I have an Acer Aspire 3620, the wireless network is enabled. The Atheros Client Utility tray icon is gray and crossed, I can't enable most functions and the troubleshooting says that Radio test failed. The report is:

G'day Areaglar.

Start/Settings/Control panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager/Network Adapters.
You should see a network icon with a red cross right click it and click on Enable.

I am getting the same problem, I have tried two different cards, 5005g, and 5005gs
I have tried XP, driver I have tried drivers from Atheros, but No luck, I thought maybe my Antenna's were in the wrong slots, but on my laptop the antenna's cable length will only reach so as to fit in one way.

Areaglar. I have an Asus F5V with an Atheros AR5006X network adapter, I have exactly the same problem as you had, my radio won't enable. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers and atheros client utility with no joy. Did you solve your problem, if so can you please point me in the right direction??

OK after having a massive tidy-up on my frieds computer which is exactly the same model as yours and exactly 100% same problem and diagnosis, I noticed that the radio was actually coming on at bootup but flicking off when the perfomance saving settings kicked in low and behold if you you go into the acer performance settings, there is an option to turn wireless LAN on/off.

Fixed the issue. Done.
