Hi All
This is driving me mad. I cannot conect any browser to the internet from my laptop. I am using a Sony Viao with linksys Wireless G router. Both pc in the house have no problem.
The laptop shows a good connection to the network and high signal strength. However whenever I load a browser I am greeted with the dreaded cannot load page. I have used various browers including IE7 Firefox and Opera. Always the same. I have tried with Firewall enabled and disabled.
The network is secure and have tried in the unsecure mode and still get the same result.
Any ideas on the way ahead to try and resolve this problem.

Right click on wireless icon and then left click on status then click details.
Do you have a DNS address showing and also is there a gateway address.

Gday to you too.
It does not show detail when I follow your instructions. I went into properties then support and it shows:
Address type Arranged by DHCP
IP Address 192.168.1.101
Subject Mask 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway 192.168.1.1
Any good

Further to my last.
Yes I have found what you asked.
There is Default Gateway address as above
and showing 3 DNS Servers

Addresses ok.
DNS might have an error.
My YL had the same problem with her wireless connection and it was the DNS server that was the problem.
Check that the DNS is the same as the machines that are working.

Hi
Bit confused as new to all this. How do I check or change the DNS.
The three showing on the lap top when I check status are:
63.31.176.39
194.117.134.19
195.188.53.175
I am using Linksys WRT54GS
For information. I picked up a unsecured network for a short while and I could connect to the internet. When I checked the DNS on that network it was the same as the IP Address?

G'day David.
If you can connect to an unsecured network, then be able to connect to your router full duplex.
Are you using the same DNS address(s) as the other two compters that work ok.

Further to my last I have checked again, and both the other PC and the LAPTOP have the same IP, Gateway and DNS showing. Infact everthing exactly the same. Sorry about the incorrect info in last update.
I am using Virgin.

They shouldn't all have the same IP address, the last digit must be different or the router will not know which computer to send/rec data to/from.
DNS can be the same and also the gate.

Thanks for your patience in this matter.
You are absolutely correct all is exactly the same except for IP addresses.
Other PC that has no problem connecting to the internet is 192.168.1.101
Laptop that does not connect to the internet is 192.168.1.100
Very frustrating has both show very strong connection signal.
I have tried repair on the Laptop. It repairs reconnects and on two occassions actually connected to my selected home page. Unfortunately it will not then connect to any other sites or pages within the site.
I have not resorted to the hammer yet!!
Would still welcome your support.

Thanks for patience. Have tried that. Like previously it connected through browser and load two pages after which it would not connect to the internet again. This is always happening on the Lap Top.
Not sure where to go from here.

Any way you can try a different router, or yours somewhere else? They do go wrong occasionally.
