Right, it's not often but I can't seem to get this little network setup ticking over the way I want it to. Wonder if y'can help me out here
My laptop is connecting to the Internet though a wireless card on a BT HomeHub. This is all set up fine and works to perfection. However, I have recently sparked up another network connected to a BT Voyager 205 router. This is connecting via USB. My Xbox (classic) is connected to the 205 via the ethernet. Here's a diagram
Xbox >>>ethernet>>> V205 >>>USB>>> Laptop <<<WLAN<<< Homehub
The problem occurs when both networks are running at the same time. It seems that only the connection to the Voyager 205 will work, and that leaves me without the Internet. At the current moment I have to run the networks one at a time.
What I'm asking for is a way to run both networks without trouble. The Xbox does not need to be connected to the Internet so the connections do not have to be bridged. Due to the layout of the house I can not change the way any of the devices connect to one antoher, it has to be in the way stated.
Can someone give me a quick rundown on what to do or any settings to apply? Thanks,

as much as I understand these things, Windows will seek out the strongest connection and that is why the wired network is preferred by your pc over the wireless one - hence why you aren't getting onto the internet when the 205 is connected.
You need to configure your Homehub as the primary router with the 205 as the secondary router.
You should set your 205 as part of the Homehub's ip address range. eg if your Homehub = 192.168.1.1 then set the 205 to 192.168.1.2 whilst at the same time disabling DHCP on the 205
reboot the pc
good luck

Hi
I have a similar setup, using wireless internet, but getting two pc's to connect to each other on another hub via wired connection. The only way I got it working was to set the wired connection as static. 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2 and then let the wireless use DHCP which was the 192.168.1 range. This way I can share files quickly between pc's by specifying the 192.168.0 address rather than host name, and both PC's maintain internet connection.
