Connected but unable to browse the internet
      #368560 - Mon Oct 15 2007 08:09 PM

Hi, im posting on behalf of my housemate. We both use the same internet connection and after the recent windows update (around the 10th october 07) she can no longer browse the internet, or update virus software etc - she however has excellent internet signal, and can access msn messenger. Ive tried bypassing the wireless router and connecting by cable, same problem. Ive tried installed firefox afresh and using that, and reinstalling IE - same problem. No virus's, No spyware. Turned all firewalls off - still no luck.
I can ping websites, and i have done the whole flushdns renewdns thing in DOS. Ive checked as many internet settings as i can find - and theres no reason these would have been changed anyway.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

If you are convinced this problem maybe related to a Windows Update, go to the Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
Make sure you have show updates checked in the top right corner, then remove the update(s) around the 10th October.
Alternatively, do a System Restore to a time earlier than the 10th to see if that solves the issue.
