bt homenetwork 1250...help!!
      #238988 - Thu Nov 17 2005 03:27 PM

Hi Please can someone help me before I rip out all of my hair...I have just purchased a bt homenet 1250 modem thingy (give you an idea of how technically minded I am?) the name on it is 2wire. Anyway, I have followed the instructions in the book to the letter (always a good idea for us tecnophobes) then it asks me to put in the installation disc...a install wizard starts to run through but then freezes my pc at the same place each time..what am I doing wrong?

Can you confirm that this is what you've just bought?

So you've got your filter in the t/p socket, you've connected the BT1250 to the filter using the supplied cable and you've connected the PC to the 1250 using an ethernet cable, yes? All this should be done whilst the power has been switched off to both the 1250 and the PC. Without the user manual I'm not sure what comes next but I would guess it says switch on the modem then the PC and install the software. Is that right?

yes, that's right. then i put in the disk and it starts doing its install stuff...with about 3 click next screens, then just before it starts the install process proper it freezes, and I am unable to do anything other than restart pc.

According to the BT site this is a web based install so your PC will need to have access straight away. Can you go back to your original modem and take the router out of the equation for the moment. Now try the install.
