Receiving hundreds of spam emails from 'Asda'!
      #368501 - Mon Oct 15 2007 01:59 PM

When I logged on today, my Outlook Express inbox was flooded with literally hundreds of emails from different email addresses but with the same subject matter ($150 to spend at Asda) or words to that effect.

I have had to block and delete each one separately and set up a message rule re certain words so that future emails are automatically deleted.

Has anyone else come across this type of spam recently and have I done enough to protect myself?

Since my original post, I've discovered from people on another forum I use that this particular email has been doing the rounds for weeks. Despite my setting up message rules to have any emails including the words 'Asda $150 worth of shopping' in the subject line deleted, I'm still getting them. One of the people who received these emails has said she clicked the unsubscribe link at the end of the email and so far she hasn't received any more.

This is the link I received in my email:

To unlist yourself simply visit this link or http://www.fructuaries.com/?rl=xxq087069...d7bpq&qz=hr
mail us at: 2020 Pennsylvania Ave NW, #319, Washington, DC 20006

The address in Pennsylvania is one I've noticed before in other spam emails which I'd deleted in the past.

Clicking an 'unsubscribe' link in spam simply confirms that your email address is live and therefore open to receive millions more. If your message rule isn't working I would suggest you recheck what you've put into it and only use the word Asda for the rule.

Well, if forty-eight million, two hundred thousand, seven hundred and one people died I'd be Queen.

Also ban that address too and Do nothing except monitor the Number of Spam from this source and delete daily It will take a while maybe a week ? But they will dry up if the keyword is good slowly ...

OH and once they are gone DO NOT delete that filter .It will act to keep this away

Many thanks for your replies. I put the words '$150 Asda' etc into my message rule and eventually, all the messages went directly to my delete box. Result!
