problems with hotmail!
      #1307 - Thu Jun 19 2003 01:05 PM

Hi there

For the past week I haven’t been able to sign in to hotmail from my computer and it's driving me crazy, it tells me that my password must be typed wrong. Which it isn’t as from any other computer I can sign in fine, so I retry and just go round in circles unable to sign in it is driving me round the bend. I was told by someone to download java script, but what is this? What does it do to enable me to access my email account?
If there's any help or advice you can pass my way please do
Thanks a lot
Rain

If you sign in automatically there must be a cookie on your hard drive, maybe that's corrupted. Try deleting it and then sign in manually, see if that works.

If not why not access your Hotmail personal details and change your password.

Hope this helps.
Questions are always simple when you know the answers.

This could be something completely different, but it sounds like exactly the same problem I had when I set up a new account with Tiscali.

In my case it wasn't anything I'd done. They wouldn't admit it, of course, but it was because they hadn't set it up properly at their end. I'm happy enough with both my accounts, but they do seem to take a few days to get it right.

There is intelligent life on Earth, but I'm only visiting.

No it's not a cookie thing I’ve deleted them all and I can't even get in to hotmail to change my password, but I know it's not the password as on any other computer I can access my email account fine, it's just bugging me why when I haven’t done any thing to my computer does this happen? Why has this happened? Sigh thanks for the advice if anything else springs to mind as what could be wrong, please let us know
Thanks again
Rain

Hi, can I suggest you re-join hotmail with a slightly different handle and password ?

Have you changed your privacy report on your browser, higher settings will stop you getting on to things like hotmail, try putting on low, restarting your computer and logging in again.

Yesterday I couldnt't get into MSN messenger saying my browser wouldn't let me, I hadn't changed anything so I restarted my computer and it worked!

Hi - I am afraid I don't have any solution for you - only the news that the same thing happened to me wit my hotmail account some time ago, and despite trying all of the solutions offered in the replies to your question, I had to eventually set up a new account.

Hotmail is not the most difficult thing to hack into, as options like the sign me in automatically thing mean that a cookie in your PC has info like the account name and password available to it. Why anyone should want to access my hotmail account is totally beyond me...how boring and inconsequential must it be to read all the crap my friends say to me (sorry friends)....I suppose someone is hoping that I have a saved e-mail called 'All my credit and bank details, passport number, address, etc'.
