I have been gone for just 4 days and someone seems to have managed to hack my account and sell $£"^.
This is not the first time and I have had enough so have sent this:
I have been away for less than a week and I come back to someone having hacked my account and listing many, many items! eBay had locked the account but I feel that this is NOT good enough!
I have been an eBay user/member for almost 8 years and have used other id's but this is the THIRD TIME on this account alone that someone has been able to hack my id and sell their crap!
I no longer feel that eBay provides the security that it promises!! I am very disappointed with this, especially since I have my personal details for any moron to see when they just need to override what is obviously a shoddy security system.!!
My password is is 11 digits long and no one on gods earth could possibly know it! I never write it down, I never log on via another link or via a link through my email yet somehow, you hopeless security system has let some moron hack my account!
It is a joke!
Since PayPal is also run by you lot, I will be closing that too. If people can hack into my eBay, then their next step will be paypal and then they have my card and bank details too and I am NOT prepared to let this happen!
I am very ticked off with this and think you guys are too interested in making money to be concerned with protecting your members interests and id's!
After 8 years, I finally quit this and will not be recommending you to anyone.... In fact, I will be doing quite the opposite though I dare say you wont care a crap considering the billions you make but at least you wont be getting my money or business anymore!

I can understand why you are so mad, I would be too. Like you said, Ebay seem to be more interested in making money than helping genuine members out.

Baz, eBay will miss the 'Baz Slap'.
I can understand the issue as it happened to me a while ago, fortunately I could pinpoint the reason - some skank email I had that stupidly I replied to THEN found out it wasn't in My Messages in eBay.
Sitting on the fence, I did find eBay terrific in dealing with it. The idiot who did my account used it to send sales emails out.
The other issue I had was someone in China who set up phoney accounts, bought items off me and other sellers and when we sent the standard Invoice, they used that to get our email addresses. Chinese wholesalers for two weeks!!
At the end of day someone determined and with a bent mind CAN probably crack most accounts. No matter what your password, they will get through. How widespread it is is hard to tell - I get one or two sales every six months where the buyer denies all knowledge of it. However I can pretty much guarantee that 90% of those are having a laugh and trying to get off paying.
In this case you would hope that from the listings they can find the trout, but as usual 'privacy' will forbid you to find out.
I agree they need to get better security, but what and how?

Thanks for the support folks.
The thing that has got under my skin the most is that I have never gone to ebay via any email or link. I always log onto the site, log in and check messages from there.
What also got me is that it just happened to happen within the 4 days I was away.
I really would like to get my hands on these hackers!

I got one of those security keys from paypal that they are offering for 5 bucks. I know the government is using these for some of their employee logins, especially for people who have security clearances, so hopefully this will help against account hacking. Because it is paypal, you can also use it on ebay. I have linked my security key to both accounts now. Does anyone know how secure these are, or if they are easily hacked?
