Help - Getting swamped by Winning bid Notification - it wont stop coming
      #371790 - Mon Nov 12 2007 06:26 PM

HELP - I am being swamped by an automatic confirmation of a winning bid from Ebay in a recent auction. The same confirmation (it is just for one item) is coming in every 4 seconds and has been going on for 24 hours. It is not a fault on my local pc - I am logging remotely to delete the emails via web access to my email and they are being fired off from Ebay roughly one every 4 seconds. I reported it to Ebay by phone this morning and they said it would be sorted out but that was 8 hours ago and NOTHING has happened. There must be some error at the Ebay computer which keeps triggering the same repeat confirmation message. Anyone got any suggestions?

If eBay say it is a fault then you will have to grin and bear it until it is sorted unfortunately. Get in touch with them again and keep contacting them until it is sorted.

I loved my grandmother very much.......and she fetched a good price on eBay.

That's a new one!
Automated emailing is very complicated when theres so many to send, all based on a collosal database - proberbly sending hundreds every single second, so there bound to run into problems ocasionally,

my advice would be to just wait it out!
How many has there been so far? Hundreds... thousands...?

Hmm I wonder if there's any option where you can turn your winning bid confirmations off? That's such a hassle though!! eBay customer service is bobbins...keep hassling them I say!!

What happened in the end here? I had the same problem a few weeks ago (except not every 4 seconds, more like once every half an hour). I gave them a call and they just told me to sit it out... In the end it did stop but it took a few days.
